The first generation of a Brahmin family made a living by being a priest. Later, in the course of time, the fifth generation of the family sells food at the railway station, continues to run a hotel, and later does business until the fifth generation heir gets a job in an American hospital. To thank their ancestors, they travel to Thanjavur district as a family friend. A fourth generation grandmother travels with the fifth generation woman. The story moves as she narrates to the woman who is about to come home as a daughter-in-law. The serial story, written by Balakumaran and published in the magazine Anandavikatan in 2000, was later turned into a book.
