Carasvaticantiraṉ : Gujarātti nāval

Saraswati Chandran', a book that was published at the end of the nineteenth century, created a great sensation among the educated Gujarati readers. The author, Govardhanaram Madhavram Tripathi (1855 - 1907), took fourteen years to write it. The book, which vividly portrayed the politics of the time (corrupt, more than a hundred Swadeshi princely states, the rule of the whites), the exploited economic situation, and social inequalities, was praised by Mahatma Gandhi.
