My Friend, the Sea [TA]

Winner of the Ambitious Children's Book Project award at the Children and Youth Literature Festival, Berlin, 2005. This is the fictional story of a boy caught in the aftermath of the tsunami that hit several countries on December 26, 2004. The narrative simply follows the feelings of the child as he tries to comprehend the horror of the experience and the bewilderment that follows. Published in English, Tamil and Hindi the text consciously speaks the language of the child.
